In short
  • At home: usually €50 to €150 per session (Trustoo, 2026).
  • Travel costs: €5 to €30 per session, or already in the price. Ask beforehand.
  • You don’t need a gym membership.
  • VAT is 21% and already included for you.

What you pay

There is no fixed rate. The main Dutch overviews give these amounts:

SourceAt homeTravel costs
Trustoo (7 September 2026)€50 – €150 per session€5 – €20 per session
Prijsinzicht (2026)€60 – €130 per hour€10 – €30 per session

For comparison: self-employed personal trainers charge €51 per hour on average, starters €49 and experienced trainers €55 (Knab hourly rates 2026). At home the price is usually higher, because the trainer comes to you.

What does it cost per month?

At €50 to €150 per session (Trustoo), four weeks come to:

Sessions per weekPer four weeks
1€200 – €600
2€400 – €1,200

Travel costs sometimes come on top. If your trainer works in a gym, you often pay a membership of €20 to €70 a month there (Trustoo). At home you don’t.

Why is it more expensive than at the gym?

  • Travel time. The trainer travels to you and back, time they can’t spend with another client.
  • Equipment. Bands, weights or a mat come along by car or bike. Some trainers charge a small extra for that (Prijsinzicht).
  • Parking. In the city parking costs money. Ask whether it’s included.

Which VAT applies?

21%. The low 9% rate only applies when the trainer also provides the sports facility (Belastingdienst), and your home isn’t one. As a private client you won’t notice: the VAT is already in the price you pay. More in VAT for personal trainers.

What do you need at home?

  • A clear spot on the floor where you can lie down and take a few steps. A living room, garden or garage is enough.
  • A mat, if the trainer doesn’t bring one.
  • Agreements about equipment. Ask what the trainer brings and whether you need to buy anything.
  • Outdoors as an alternative. Many trainers also come to a park near you. That is often just as easy.

What to check

  • Is the price all-in? Ask whether travel, parking and equipment are included.
  • What if you cancel? For home sessions trainers often charge a late cancellation, because they’re already on their way. Ask about the rule beforehand.
  • How far does the trainer come? A trainer from your own area often charges less for travel.
  • Read reviews. You’re letting someone into your home, so choose someone you trust. Also read how Gymies handles safety.
