Frequently asked questions
Which personal trainer suits weight loss best?
Choose a trainer with experience in weight loss. Losing weight mainly comes from changing what you eat; training helps and is good for your health. Search Gymies for "weight loss".
What is the difference between strength training and muscle building with a personal trainer?
Strength training focuses on increasing your maximum strength (heavy weights, few repetitions). Muscle building (hypertrophy) focuses on increasing muscle mass through moderate weight and more repetitions. Many personal trainers combine both methods, depending on your goal.
Can a personal trainer also give rehabilitation exercises?
Rehabilitation itself belongs with a physiotherapist or doctor. After that, a personal trainer can help you build back up, ideally in consultation with your physiotherapist. Ask the trainer about their experience and training.
Do personal trainers also teach yoga?
Yes. Some personal trainers are also certified yoga instructors. They combine yoga with strength training, breathing exercises and flexibility training. Search Gymies for "yoga" to find a trainer who teaches yoga.
How do I choose the right sport for my training goal?
First decide on your main goal: weight loss, building muscle, improving fitness, recovering from an injury or getting better at a sport. Then choose the sport that fits. Not sure? Check on a trainer’s profile whether they offer a trial session.
