Guide for trainers
Website for personal trainers: what do you really need?
A nice website alone doesn’t bring clients. What works: a page where someone sees at a glance who you are, what you charge and when you are free, and then books and pays straight away. Here’s how to arrange that, with or without your own website.
- Clients want to see: who you are, your price, where you train and your free times. And book straight away.
- In the Netherlands your KvK number must be on your website (KvK).
- Your own website is useful for your brand. Booking, upfront payment and invoices you arrange separately, or through a profile that has it all.
What a trainer website should do
- Who you are: a clear photo, your approach and who you train.
- Your offer and price: per session, per class pack or per group class. A price people have to ask for makes them drop off.
- Where you train: a studio, outdoors, or at the client’s home.
- When you are free: real available times instead of "send me a message".
- Direct booking and upfront payment: that saves back-and-forth messaging and no-shows.
- Your cancellation rules: visible before booking. How to set them up.
- Reviews from real clients.
- Your business details: at least your KvK number (see below).
Three ways, honestly compared
| Own website only | Own website + booking system | Profile on Gymies | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who you are, price, location | Yes, build it yourself | Yes, build it yourself | Yes, in your profile |
| Free times and direct booking | No (contact form) | Yes | Yes |
| Upfront payment | No | Often a separate add-on | Yes |
| Invoices to clients | Make them yourself | Yourself or via an extra integration | Gymies creates them on your behalf |
| Payout | Collect it yourself | Via the payment provider | Every month, first working day |
| Own brand and domain | Yes | Yes | Your profile, with your own link and booking button (see below) |
| Maintenance | You | You, two systems | Gymies |
If you want your own brand and domain, your own website is still the best choice. If you mainly want clients to book easily and pay up front, a profile with booking is enough. Or combine them: your own website with a booking button that goes to your profile.
What must be on your website by law
According to the KvK, your KvK number must be on your website, just like on your invoices and business emails. If you sell online (for example sessions or class packs with online payment), the KvK also lists:
- the business name you are registered under;
- your VAT number;
- the address where your business is based;
- your email address and phone number, and when you can be reached.
Put them in the footer of every page, for example, so clients can find them before they pay. In doubt? Check with the KvK. This is an explanation, not legal advice.

Getting found on Google
- Google Business Profile: when someone searches "personal trainer" near you, Google often shows the map first. Create a free Business Profile and add your booking link.
- A complete profile: your own text, photos, your sports, your area and your price. Gymies doesn’t show a half-finished profile on Google.
- Reviews: ask clients for a review after a session. On Gymies that’s only possible after a real session.
Nobody can promise you a spot at the top of Google, and neither can we.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own website as a personal trainer?
Not necessarily. Clients mainly want to see who you are, what you charge, where you train and when you are free, and then book straight away. That can be on your own website, but also on a profile with online booking. Your own website is mainly useful if you want to build your own brand.
What must be on my website by law in the Netherlands?
According to the KvK (Netherlands Chamber of Commerce), your KvK number must be on your website. If you sell online, also your business name, VAT number, business address and how clients can reach you (email and phone). Put it in the footer of every page, for example.
Can I keep my existing website?
Yes. From Pro+ you can add a booking button to your own website. Clients then book and pay via Gymies, and your calendar, invoices and payouts are all in one place.
What does a profile on Gymies cost?
A fixed monthly amount: Starter €27.99, Pro €64.99, Pro+ €79.99 (excl. VAT). Plus €0.49 service fee per paid session; no percentage of your rate.
